Venkat Tummala, M.D., DABR, is a board-certified interventional radiologist who currently serves as Associate Chief Medical Officer at Penumbra, Inc. Prior to joining Penumbra in 2023, Dr. Tummala practiced vascular interventional radiology at Lakeland Vascular Institute in Lakeland, Florida for 10 years and served as Vice President of
Medical Affairs at Inari Medical for 2.5 years. Dr. Tummala is passionate about endovascular thrombectomy and clot management in ALI, VTE, stroke, etc., both in practice and physician education. He has lectured globally at medical conferences as invited faculty and has authored
scientific publications and book chapters. Some of his areas of clinical expertise and research include PAD, VTE, iliocaval reconstruction, endovascular management of aortic pathology, and interventional oncology. After completing his medical degree at Guntur Medical College NTR in India, Dr. Tummala completed residencies at the University of Miami and Michigan State University followed by fellowships in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of South Florida and the
University of Miami.
